Kelly's Monster Week Leads To OCCAC Honors

Toledo, OH---James Kelly, a sophomore forward, has been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 20.

The 6'7" Kelly produced a triple-double in a win over Cuyahoga Community College last Wednesday before adding a double-double in a win over Cincinnati State Technical and Community College this past Saturday.

In the 96-80 road win over Cuyahoga, Kelly finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals, two blocks and one assist. Then, in his team's 73-72 road win over Cincinnati State, Kelly had 21 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.

The honor is the second for Kelly in his career. He also won player of the week honors on Feb. 19 last year.

Kelly is averaging 17. 8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.5 steals this year. In OCCAC play alone, Kelly is averaging 25.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game.

Kelly and the Express men (14-6 overall, 3-0 OCCAC) will take on Lakeland Community College at 7:30 p.m. in the SHAC tomorrow. Owens and Lakeland are two of three undefeated teams in OCCAC play.
