Toledo, Ohio---Julian Egbo, a 2016 Toledo (OH) Rogers High School graduate who played at Ohio Christian University last year, will play men's basketball at Owens Community College this season.

The 6-8 center shot 10-for-20 from the field last year in limited minutes over 13 games for the NAIA Ohio Christian University program. He averaged 1.8 points and 2.2 rebounds, scored a season-high nine points against Wright State University Lake campus on Jan. 10 and had a season-high nine rebounds against Point Park on Jan. 14.

"Julian has a ton of upside," said Owens head men's basketball coach Dennis Springs. "He will be valuable on the defensive end for rim protection and is also capable of scoring in the post outside to 3-point range."

While at Rogers, Egbo was a First Team All-Academic selection in the Toledo City League.

Egbo joins Yavari Hall, a 6-4 guard from Warrensville Heights/Warrensville, Ohio, in this year's class. Hall's signing story can be found here.

Stay tuned to over the next few days for additional signing stories.

Springs is entering his first full season as the head coach of the Owens men's basketball program in 2017-18. Last year, he took over for Dave Clarke on Dec. 16 and led the team to a 16-5 record over the final 21 games. He had previously been an assistant with the program since the 2013-14 season.

The Owens men's basketball program, which finished 23-9 last year and advanced to the Region XII District 11 semifinals, has won at least 20 games in five of the past six seasons and 29 times overall in program history.

Over the past six seasons, Owens men's basketball has compiled a 141-53 (.729) record with two conference championships and one National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Final Four appearance. Overall, the program has captured 12 conference championships, eight Region XII championships and two national championships.
