Sylvania, OH---Benjamin Rubin and Samuel Miller, a pair of senior defenders at Sylvania Northview High School in Sylvania, OH, became the second and third members of the 2013-14 Express men's soccer freshmen class on Tuesday.
Both players come from the highly successful Pacesetter Soccer Club in Sylvania, Ohio. In fact, the pair signed their letters of intent during a ceremony at the Pacesetter Indoor Facility.
As a senior, Miller was named First Team All-Northern Lakes League, First Team All-District and Second Team All-Ohio as a defender and team captain. As a junior, he was named First Team All-NLL and First Team All-District. Additionally, he was a four-year starter.
Miller has been with Pacesetter since second grade, where he has been a team captain the past four years.
Rubin, meanwhile, went undefeated at Internationals Total Soccer Showcase this past year. He was part of a defense that allowed zero goals in three matches.
Also in 2012, Rubin was part of a team that went undefeated in the Blue Chip Showcase while allowing only one goal against while defeating three state champion teams. Additionally, his team won the Pacesetter Invitational outright while allowing only two goals in five games.
Both players now join a 2013-14 Express men's soccer freshmen class that also includes Ahmad Jarrar, of Hendersonville (NC) High School, and Adane Spence of Coconut Creek (FL) High School.
The Express men's soccer team captured the program's first Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) championship last year while finishing with a 14-6-1 overall record (5-1 OCCAC).
