Toledo, OH -- While the Owens Women's basketball program has the week off before the start of postseason play, the Express coaching staff is starting to put together next year's squad.
The program announced the signing of two players to letters of intent to play for the Owens Women's basketball program starting in the Fall of 2018.
Moreina Moore signs with the Express out of Thomas Worthington High School in Worthington, OH, a suburb north of the city of Columbus. The Cardinal guard comes to the Express after lettering three years with the program. She has been an Ohio Capital All-Conference Honorable Mention and she has also participated in the Top 100 Showcase. Moore plans to major in Business and Marketing at Owens. Her mother Naomi is a nurse and she has three siblings: Austin, Lucy, and Maxwell.
The other signee was Tori Kopp of Perrysburg High School. Kopp and the Yellow Jackets are in the process of putting the finishing touches on a dominant season. Kopp is averaging 6.3 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per contest. She has been named to the All Northern Lakes League Second Team and she was a District Seven Honorable Mention last season. She has also been a part of back to back NLL championship teams, the most recent going undefeated at 14-0 in conference play. Kopp's father, Thomas, is an accountant and her mother, Kelli, is a gymnastics coach. She has one sister named Valeri.
- The Express have almost two weeks off from play. They were supposed to play on 3/3 prior to the tip off of the men's game but Clark State canceled their women's season back in January. The team will either be the #1 or #2 seed in next weekend's District Tournament in Circleville, OH and receive a bye into the semifinals of the tournament. They will either play at 1:00 PM or 3:00 PM against an opponent to yet be determined at Ohio Christian University.
