Toledo, OH --- The Owens Community College Athletic Department has announced the official launch of the Owens Express Athletic Fund.
The Owens Express Athletic Fund will be the primary means through which private funds are raised for the Owens Community College Athletic Department. Becoming a member of the Owens Express Athletic Fund directly helps over 150 student-athletes achieve their goals of excellence both in the classroom and on the fields of competition.
"The mission of Owens Express Athletics is to promote student success," Express Director of Athletics Rudy Yovich stated. "We are proud to have established a winning tradition both on and off the playing field, but excellence comes at a price. Despite tremendous support from the College, our athletic department needs regular, private support to ensure that our student-athletes continue to compete at the highest level as well as enjoy an educational environment that fosters achievement."
This past season, two student-athletes were named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Americans, five were named to the NJCAA All-Academic team, and 24 were named to the Ohio Community College Athletic Association (OCCAC) All-Academic Team. Express teams also captured two OCCAC conference championships, and golfer Luke Berger qualified for the NJCAA Natonal Golf Championships.
