Prior to Owens: Fitz played at Liberty University before transferring to Owens.

High School: Oak Harbor High School, Oak Harbor, Ohio, where he was MVP pitcher, Second Team SBC, District Honorable Mention and played in the All-Star Regional Game as a senior.  As a junior, he was MVP pitcher and Second Team SBC.  He also played football and was in the National Honor Society.
