Toledo, OH -- The Owens Express Men's Basketball season came to an end this past Saturday with a 95-89 loss to Hocking College. But despite the end to the season, the program did make strides in returning to top form this season.

Owens would finish 15-15, a .500 record, which was an eight game improvement in the win column. The Express also finished 6-5 in the OCCAC, which is .545 winning percentage. That is a significant improvement in terms of winning percentage from a year ago, when the Express only won a single conference game.

Owens also posted a winning home record this year (11-5), which was also a six win improvement over a season ago. Statistically, the Express were better in ever single category as well from a season ago. Owens averaged 83.1 ppg this year, and they also shot nearly 40% as a team from beyond the arc this season.

Jaelin Ferrell finished as the team's leading scorer at 17.2 points per contest. He topped the 1,000 point mark during his career this season as well. Ferrell broke a school record this season this past weekend, when he became the school's all time leader in three points made in a season. He officially made 123 threes during the year, which beats the mark of Derrik Jamerson. Jamerson, who played at Norfolk State for two seasons, held the previous record of 120 made three pointers in a year.

Anthony Mills finished the season., averaging 12.7 points per game, while Reggie Robinson averaged 11.7 points over the course of the year.

Jacob Cousino was the squad's leader in rebounding for the season. The sophomore averaged six rebounds a contest. Robinson was second on the team in board, grabbing 5.1 per game. The leading assist man was Anthony Mills, who dished out four per game. Reggie Robinson averaged 2.8 a game.

Owens will say goodbye to seven sophomores. They are Anthony Mills, Reggie Robinson, Jordan Grayson, Kemet Hartman, Tyler Brooks, Jaelin Ferrell, and Jacob Cousino. Four players off the current roster are expected to return next season.
