Toledo, Ohio---Philippe Weppernig (Luzern, Switzerland), a two-time First Team All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) selection, will continue his career as a student-athlete at Eastern Michigan University.

In addition to his all-conference honors, Weppernig also twice earned PING All-East Region honors as a member of the Owens Community College men's golf team. He averaged 75.3 strokes over 51 career rounds and led his team to back-to-back top 10 finishes at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament.

"Philippe has been a huge asset to the program," said Owens head men's golf coach Josh Williams. "He has accomplished a lot both on the course and in the classroom, and his hard work and dedication to both golf and school has paid off. I see nothing but good things to come for him at Eastern Michigan."

This past year, Weppernig finished fourth in conference play. At the Region XII tournament, he finished tied for 15th place with a three-round score of 230. Then, at nationals, he shot a 300 over four rounds to tie for 62nd place.

As a freshman, Weppernig was named First Team All-OCCAC, First Team All-Region XII and PING All-East Region. He was also named to the NJCAA Division II All-Tournament team and earned NJCAA Second Team All-American honors.

Moreover, Weppernig was a tournament medalist three times in his two-year career and a two-time member of the All-OCCAC Academic team. He came to Owens from Kantonsschule Luzern High School in Luzern, Switzerland.

"Most of all, I am extremely proud of him for graduating from Owens," Williams added. "It takes a special person to come from thousands of miles away and succeed like he has done. He will be greatly missed."

Eastern Michigan, an NCAA Division I institution, finished third in the Mid American Conference (MAC) Championships last season. They are led by Bruce Cunningham, who will enter is 23rd year next year.
