Toledo, OH---Mackenzie Heacock was named First Team All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) as four Express women's basketball players were honored recently.

Jordyn Bond (Second Team All-OCCAC), Karahn Scott (Second Team All-OCCAC) and Danielle Bezeau (Honorable Mention All-OCCAC) were the other three.

Heacock, a sophomore guard, was the OCCAC's seventh leading scorer this year as she averaged 15.2 points over 12 games. She shot 49.2 percent from the field and 40.8 percent from 3-point range. Her 3-point percentage was second best in the conference, while her overall shooting percentage was fourth best.

Heacock's first-team selection marks the second consecutive year and fourth in the past five years in which an Express women's basketball player has made first-team.

Scott, a sophomore forward, was the OCCAC's 11th leading scorer at 12.4 points per game. She shot 48 percent from the field overall, which was sixth best in OCCAC play. Furthermore, she was the OCCAC's second leading rebounder at 11.4 per game.

Bond, a freshman guard/forward, was limited to only seven games in OCCAC play, but played well enough to garner second-team honors. She averaged 9.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, three assists, 2.6 steals and 1.9 blocks in those seven games.

Bezeau, a sophomore point guard, took on a much larger role this year and shined. In 12 games, she averaged 6.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, five assists and 2.3 steals per game to earn Honorable Mention accolades. On Feb. 6, she broke the program's 15-year-old, single game assist record with 14 against Cuyahoga CC. In that game, she also had seven points, 12 rebounds and four steals.

As a team, the Express captured the OCCAC regular season championship outright with a 10-2 record. It was their seventh OCCAC title since the modern era of the program began in 1992-93.

Following that, the Express captured their fourth district championship in program history and will make their fifth appearance in the NJCAA D-II National Tournament March 19-23. The team opens play against Community College of Rhode Island on March 19 at 9 a.m. in the round of 16.
