Gilbert Guerrero begins his first season as head coach of the Owens golf program.  He previously served as the team's assistant coach last year.  Guerrero brings over 20 years of coaching experience in golf to Owens.  He previously served as head varsity boy's golf coach at Start High School from 1985-2005.  His many accolades in golf include being named Ohio High School Division I and District 7 Coach of the Year.  Guerrero has been the teaching golf professional at Detwiler Park Golf Course in Toledo for the past four years and previously served as golf professional at Toledo's Ottawa Park Golf Course from 1981-85.  He also has held board-level membership with the Junior Golf Association.  In addition to his golf coaching experience, Guerrero serves as head varsity boy's basketball coach and earned a bachelor's degree in arts and sciences from Syracuse University and a master's degree in special education from Bowling Green State University.  Guerrero serves as a special education teacher at Start High School.
