2011-12 Season: Mitchell was the team's third leading scorer as a freshman, while pouring in 12.4 points per game. She started 27 games while also adding 6.2 rebounds, three assists, just under two blocks per game and just over one steal per game. Her rebounding numbers were fourth on the team. Moreover, she scored 383 points overall, while leading the team in three point field goal percentage (58-for-167, 35 percent). Following the season, Mitchell was named Second Team All-OCCAC.
Prior to Owens: Mitchell starred at Detroit MLK, averaged eight points and four rebounds her senior year, and helped her team win district titles her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Additionally, she participated in track and was an All-City runner in cross country her senior year. Academically, Mitchell was an honor roll student as a freshman.
